Liam Karr is the Africa Team Lead for the Critical Threats Project at the American Enterprise Institute, where he covers geopolitical and security dynamics in sub-Saharan Africa with a focus on the Horn of Africa/Red Sea and the Sahel. He launched CTP’s Africa Team and its flagship weekly Africa File reports, writes pieces featured in Foreign Policy, Time, Newsweek, and more, and is regularly sourced for his expertise and mapmaking from across the US government, foreign partners, and a wide array of outlets, such as Reuters and The Economist. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a B.A. in Political Science, History, and Arabic and an International Security Studies Certificate.
