Major Political Developments
The UN repatriated over 500 Rwandan refugees to Rwanda from the eastern DRC. The UN collaborated with M23 to repatriate 533 Rwandan refugees to Rubavu, Rwanda from Goma via the Grande Barrière border post on August 25.[i] The DRC, Rwanda, and the UN had committed to find solutions to the refugee crisis and expedite the voluntary repatriation of 600 refugees from Goma to Rwanda in late July as part of the US-backed peace accord.[ii]
