Volunteer Contributors

Seeking volunteer contributors for Frederick W. Kagan’s Critical Threats Project (CTP). CTP tracks and analyzes current challenges to U.S. national security, specifically those relating to Iran, Pakistan, the Levant, the Caucasus, the Horn of Africa, West and North Africa, and al-Qaeda. Primary responsibilities of volunteer contributors will be to provide background research, track ongoing developments, and assist Frederick W. Kagan’s staff in the creation of maps, data products, and written articles. Reading proficiency in Arabic, Farsi, French, Russian, Urdu, Pashto, or Somali is desired but not required. Applicants need not reside in the Washington, DC metropolitan area.

INTERNSHIPS

The Critical Threats Project (CTP) seeks full-time interns to support its mission of providing the American public and policy experts with objective tracking and analysis of the primary national security challenges faced by the United States. CTP primarily focuses on security, economic, and political dynamics in Iran, Pakistan, the Levant, the Caucasus, the Horn of Africa, and West and North Africa as well as the operations and ideology of al-Qaeda and other violent Islamist organizations. Full-time interns will form a key part of a flexible, mission-oriented, and self-motivated team that researches, tracks and analyzes national security challenges. The primary responsibility of this position will be providing background research, daily tracking of ongoing developments, and other assistance to Critical Threats staff in the creation of maps, data products, and written articles.

Candidates should be able to work well without supervision when required, write well, follow citation and style rules diligently, and meet short-term deadlines while managing longer-term research projects.

CTP desires candidates with the ability to read news articles in Arabic, Farsi, French, Russian, Urdu, Pashto, or Somali, but hard-working and motivated candidates without language skills should also apply.
