Al-Qaeda: Theaters of Jihad
The threat posed by al-Qaeda and other Islamist groups is not limited to certain countries or regions. Violent Islamist groups have bases and cells around the world, but they view geographic locations differently. Al-Qaeda sees some countries as potential bases for operations, some as frontiers, and others as potential seats of a global Caliphate. The Theaters of Jihad provide analysis of how al-Qaeda and associated Islamist groups perceive different arenas.
